Marijan Jazic

Rođen:30.11.1940. (Imotski, Hrvatska)

Preminuo:03.03.2025. (Halifax, Nova Škotska, Kanada)

Dob: 84

Born in Imotski, Croatia, on November 30, 1940, Mario built a life defined by hard work, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his family. In 1968, Mario immigrated to Canada with little to no financial means and without knowing a word of English.

Through sheer determination, resilience, and an unwavering work ethic, he built a successful life in Bedford, becoming a respected builder whose work helped shape some of HRM’s most monumental buildings, many of which remain at the heart of the city today – his legacy is etched into the very foundation of the place he called home.

Mario was a man of few words but immense presence. He was incredibly hardworking, disciplined, selfless, and loving in his own unique way. He lived by routine, finding comfort in the predictability of daily life. Despite his grumblings about his ‘leaky nose’, he found great peace in nature; a love that showed in his daily ritual of feeding the ‘quirrels’ in his backyard.

His greatest role, however, was that of a devoted father, and grandfather. His love and guidance will be forever cherished by his children, Ante (Annemarie), Alan (Danielle), and Tanya (Nelson); and his beloved grandchildren Alessandra, Niko, Juliana, Luka, and Mila. He is also survived by his wife, Sanja, and his siblings and extended family in Canada and Croatia.
