Marinko Lipovac, age 63, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 14, 2021. He was born in Bosnia on December 7th, 1957 to the late Andrija and Janja Lipovac. Marinko resided 34 years in Bosnia, he took great pride in his Croatian heritage. He was a proud veteran of the Civil Bosnian War. He later moved to Germany for 7 years before finally settling in the USA in 1999.
On December 12th, 1978 he married Ivka Cabraja. For the last 10 years Marinko worked for his family-owned trucking company. He was an active member of St. Lucy’s Croatian Catholic Church, Troy. In his spare time, Marinko was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing chess. Above all, Marinko loved spending time with his family. He especially cherished his time spent with his grandchildren, who he adored.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ivka; children, Renata Lipovac, Andrija (Jennifer) Lipovac; grandchildren, Saja, Niko, Luka; Sister, Nevenka Jurakic, as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Petar and Mihajlo Lipovac.
A funeral mass will be on Wednesday, January 20th at 12:00 p.m. at St. Lucy’s Croatian Catholic Church, 200 East Wattles Road, Troy, MI 48085. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to mass at church.
