Mary Magdalene Alfirevich (nee Sudar) of Homer Glen, Illinois. Born on March 12, 1933 and passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023, at the age of 90.

Mary was the dearest daughter to the late Manda and Thomas Sudar. Devoted wife to Joseph Peter Alfirevich and loving mother to Mary Jo (Robert) Fasan, John (Christine) Alfirevich, Kathy Jo (Timothy) Bradley, the late Helen Marie Alfirevich and Joseph (Lori) Alfirevich. Proud grandmother of Johnny, Olivia and Joey Alfirevich; Aidan and Dylan Bradley; and Ava, Peter and Paulie Alfirevich. A wonderful aunt and dear friend to many.

Mary was born in South Chicago on March 12, 1933. She attended Bowen High School, where she met the love of her life, Joseph Alfirevich. They married on May 27, 1961, and spent the next 62 years growing in love and partnership. Together they would raise five children based on the power of principle and the value of family traditions.

Mary devoted her life to being a wife, mother and Baba – this was her most important role. She took time with her husband, Joe, and each of her kids in all the ways that matter. She was supportive, patient, always available and always giving of her whole self. She was strong when she needed to be. Her heart was beyond compare.

Mary's favorite pastime was to be with her family and friends and her beloved Club Girls. She was the consummate hostess who extended open arms and delicious food to every guest who entered her home. She loved celebrating, especially during the holidays, with a house filled with spirit and song.

Mary always gave her sage advice with a smile, particularly to those who needed it most. She took time to ensure all in her family and her dear friends knew they were loved and cared for. She was empathetic and an excellent listener, someone you could bring any problem or issue to and know she would put her focus and heart into it. With Mary's determination and faith, you knew she had your back.

Mary enjoyed traveling on annual family vacations. She joined her husband on numerous trips around the world, many times through his work as an auto dealer and association executive. She also relished watching and attending sporting events and was a devoted fan of her cherished Chicago Bears.

Mary could light up a room with her effervescent laugh, grace and ethereal beauty. She was elegant yet humble and possessed a quiet dignity that belied incredible strength. Beyond her amazing love of family and strong friendships, she was a devout Catholic. Her faith and spirituality were a mainstay in her life.

She was prayerful and said a daily rosary. Her heart and mind were united in her steadfast belief in God, His greatness and mercy. She faced the many challenges and struggles that life bestowed with trust in God and His wisdom.

With her passing, we are reminded of her unwavering faith and are comforted by her strong belief that we will, one day, be together again.
