It is with sadness that the Tomas family announces the death of our mom Mary (Marica) Tomas (nee Dujmović) in Ottawa on September 26, 2026 at the age of 88 years old. Predeceased by her husband, Frank (Franjo) Tomas; her sons Frank and Joseph Tomas; her brothers Josip Dujmović (Croatia), Ivo Dujmović (Croatia) and Pero Dujmović (Slovenia); and sisters-in-law, Ana Vukovic and Marija Dujmović.
Loving Mother to Theresa, Nina (Barry), Diana (Paul) and Allan (Tanya). Cherished Baba to Audrey (Simon), Natasha, Sean, Christopher, Marissa, Michael and Marina. Proud great-grandmother to Ezra and Heidi.
She will be missed by her sister Dragica (Croatia), her brother-in-law (Ante Vukovic), sisters-in-law (Dragica, Katica, Ankica, Stefica, Marija), and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends in Canada, Croatia, Slovenia and Germany.
Marica was born in Kupčina, Žumberak, Croatia on June 5, 1938, and in 1961 she emigrated to Canada to get married and start a family in Ottawa. She was a seamstress for many years, and worked at Sears Canada and Glebe Draperies. Her main love was her family and having family gatherings frequently, cooking traditional home cooked meals and baking Croatian desserts.
