Mary "Micika" Zauhar passed on September 6th, 2021 at the age of 96. Micika was born to Miho and Marija Putrih in Delnice, Croatia on December 5th, 1924. She was the youngest of 9 children-needless to say, family was very important to her.
In 1956, John Zauhar visited Delnice from the United States to visit relatives, where he then met Micika and fell in love. 2 years later, Micika emigrated from Croatia to Washington State to be with the man she married. Although she had left Croatia, it did not take long for her to find her new family here as Washington is home to a large Croatian community.
In 1961, Micika gave birth to her only daughter, Maryann. The new family made Seattle their home and, later moved to Ellensburg where they remained in the same house for 35 years. She was preceded in death by John on July 7th, 2004, and is survived by her daughter, Maryann, her son-in-law, Jeff Feller, her grandchildren, Marija, Nicholas and his wife, Emi, and her nieces and nephews.
Micika was dearly loved by her family and friends for her nurturing and sweet nature. Her warm presence will be missed but not forgotten. Micika will be buried next to her husband in the Roslyn Cemetery.
