It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing on Christmas Day of a great man, Matija Strk. Loving Husband of 57 years to Nevenka, proud Father to Sanja (Gordan) Hlobik, Snjezana Eva Rukavina and Damir Strk. Beloved Dida to Stephanie, Melanie (Marko), David, Emily, Jennifer and Megan. He will be fondly remembered by his Kumovi Cagalj; along with extended Family and Friends in Canada, Croatia and abroad. Longtime active member of the Croatian Centre and HDZ. Avid Fisherman and Hunter who always loved being outdoors. Enjoyed gardening; especially planting his garlic. Best known for his Kobasice and Kulen. Master Cabinet Maker and always willing to help out family and friends whenever needed.
Due to Covid-19, visitation is restricted to a specified number of attendees. All visitors will be required to wear a face covering, as well as provide name and telephone number to funeral home staff. Memorial Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Tuesday January 4, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 7:30pm. Memorial Service will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East on Wednesday January 5, 2022 at 11am.
