Mike Zeljeznjak passed away on August 22, 2021 at 8:00pm. Mike was born on September 4, 1938 in Novaki, Croatia. He came to the United with his wife and son in 1968.
Upon arriving in the United States, he worked for Sambol Meat Packing Company for 10 years as a meat cutter. He then moved on to General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant where he worked for 22 years. He retired from GM in 2004.
He belonged to CFU St. Martin’s Lodge 14 and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a hard worker and gave every task 110%. If anyone needed help, he was there. He enjoyed 17 years of retirement with his family at the home in Basehor, KS.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mirko and Mara Zeljeznjak (Novaki, Croatia), his sister, Ana Zugcic (Novi Grad, Croatia), and brother Ivan Zeljeznjak (Australia).
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise Zeljeznjak and son Zeljko Steven Zeljeznjak. Brother, Nikola (Mary) Zeljeznjak. Brother-in-law, Frank (Kathy) Cavlovic (Canada). Nieces and Nephews: Jessica Zeljeznjak-Robison (Frank, Sophia, and Nikolas) and Christina Zeljeznjak. Lillian (Steve) Makar. Visnja McAvoy (Michael and Mickey). Zeljko (Marica) Zugcic and family (Croatia) and Zdravko (Gordana) Zugcic and family (Croatia). Jennifer Reynolds (Phill, Kendall, and Keaton). Steven Makar.
