He leaves behind his beloved wife Zlata, daughters Julie, Janet and Natasha and many loved nieces, nephews and Godchildren in Canada and Croatia.

He will be reunited with his parents Mato and Marija, siblings Lucija (George), Manda (Ivo), Franjo (Katica), Joso (Dragica) and Mile.

He was born in Croatia and in 1966 realized his dream of living in Canada.

He was a man deeply devoted to his family and work.

He raised a family in a time where simple moments created memories which he captured by film or video.

Families gathered often to laugh, sing, dance, joke around, reminisce, play cards, swim and play volleyball. Pavo took great pleasure in all these activities.

He was full of life and adventure. He loved spending time with his family and friends, camping, gardening and beekeeping. Hunting trips with his buddies was something he looked forward to every year.

The highest Michelin rated restaurant did not interest him, preferring to eat only Zlata’s amazing home cooking. He adored Zlata, his wife of 54 years. The best of times were shared in laughter, joking, dancing and playing with the beloved family dog Marley. Together Pavo and Zlata instilled in their daughters the importance of being kind, generous, humble, joy filled, and grateful; and to be good hosts when welcoming others, especially those in need.

He was a proud and loving tata. He protected his daughters and taught them life’s important lessons and virtues. Raising them to be thankful and to give glory to God in prayer and service to others. He also held steadfast to tradition and taught them to be proud of their Croatian heritage.

He loved animals and being in nature. He respected creation by living conscientiously, being resourceful. He could fix any problem, and customize any solution; a ‘MacGyver' in talent and creativity. He was a carpenter by trade, a proud and loyal employee of McMaster Hospital for 27 years. In the hallways not a person passed him by without a mutual beaming ‘Hello!’. Pavo was hardworking, a perfectionist who had a keen attention to detail and an eye for beauty in his work.

A giving spirit, he loved to help, to build, to give to others. Always honest and truthful, he was a man of integrity and honour, deliberate in his speech and actions. A brilliant mind whose accounts of geography, politics, nature, math, and how things work, was second to none. Chess was his game - an undefeated champion, playing cards was his favourite pastime, as was watching gameshows and his choice sports on tv, namely, soccer and tennis.

Pavo will be dearly missed by his family and friends both in Canada and Croatia.
