It is with sincere sadness that we announce the passing of our dear and longtime parishioner, Petar Kosor. Petar passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and family at his side on October 4, 2021.
Petar was born in Trbounje, Croatia on July 1, 1931, son of Ante and Tomica Kosor. He was the oldest of 4 children and often helped his siblings Maria, Marko and Kata. Petar was a devoted and loving husband to Ana Kosor and loving father to Vjekoslav, Nediljka (Graf) and Timothy Kosor. Petar was an exceptional patriarch to his family and will be greatly missed, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
After arriving to Los Angeles in 1964, Petar contributed his many talents to his beloved Saint Anthony Croatian Catholic church and parish. He was a skilled master carpenter and built and assembled many wooden structures such as the altar, the podium and the pulpit which can be seen even today. He was also Vice President of the St. Anthony Croatian Children's school and President of the Sveti Nikola Tavelic Family Guild, he dedicated his time, efforts and knowledge for many years. Petar was also an usher for over 40 years at St Anthony’s, a tradition which his grandchildren continue to this day. Petar was loved by many parishioners who respected his leadership skills and honest character.
Petar is survived by his loving wife, Ana, son and daughter in law, Vjeko and Lori Kosor, daughter Nediljka, son and daughter in law, Timothy and Annie Kosor; 9 grandchildren Christopher, Matthew, Alex (Nina), Peter, Christian, Luka, Marina, Ava and Marko. He is also survived by his sister and brother in law, Marija and Josip Petravic and their family.
Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for Saturday, October 30th with the Rosary at 10:00 am and Holy Mass following immediately at 10:30 am at St. Anthony Croatian church.
