Mr. Petar Zivcic, age 84 years of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on November 18, 2025.
Petar was born on October 3, 1941, in Gorinci, Croatia, the second of three children born to Jelka and Slavko Zivcic. In his early years he worked and lived on the family farm in Croatia. On February 9, 1964, he married Barbara Cavrak, and they had one son Slavko. On December 14, 1969, they immigrated to Thunder Bay to join his mother and sisters and their families.
Petar worked for 21 years at Northern Woods Sawmill as a labourer and debarker operator. He enjoyed getting together with family, gardening, carpentry, making wine, and smoking meats.
Petar will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara and son Slavko. He is also survived and missed by sister Danica Namestnik from Welland; cousins Ivan and Zorka Pavletic; sister-in-law Visnja Cavrak; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives in Thunder Bay, St. Catherines, Mississauga, Welland, Toronto, and Ottawa.
Predeceased by his parents Slavko and Jelka Zivcic; sister and brother-in-law Zlata and Miko Rozic; brothers-in-law Andrija Namestnik and Janko Cavrak; and niece Mirjana Cavrak-Johansen.
