He will be missed by his siblings: Josip, Marko (predeceased), Ivo, Drago, Ankica and their respective families, along with many relatives and friends. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. Respected businessman, philanthropist and pillar in the Croatian community.

Rudolf was the firstborn son to lvuša Arapović and Jozo Komšić. Born in Busovača, Bosnia & Herzegovina, the family moved to Komletinci, Croatia, in 1948. He trained as a carpenter and immigrated to Canada in 1963 where he began to work and eventually developed a carpentry and construction business. Rudolf and Eva kept in touch through love letters until her arrival in Montreal in 1967. They were married on August 10, 1968, and were blessed with three children; Frank, Rudy and Nikola.

Rudolf was a driven, successful and well-respected businessman. His company, RU-KO Inc., was well known for its custom cabinetry and quality craftsmanship. Along with private contracts, RU-KO completed numerous projects in Montreal and across Canada. He was highly respected by clients, suppliers and employees alike.

Rudolf was a philanthropist and pillar in the Croatian community. He headed the construction of the Croatian church in Montreal, Sveti Nikola Tavelić, and was honoured to be named its godfather. He proudly served as a committee member for several years and made many significant personal and financial contributions. Further, he was instrumental in providing aid to his beloved Croatia during the war in the early 1990s. He will be fondly remembered by the Croatian community for his love and dedication.

To his wife Eva, Rudolf was a source of great comfort, love and joy. Together, they shared a lifetime of happy memories and overcame many of life’s adversities. Eva is blessed to have shared her life with such a passionate and devoted man whom she will forever hold dear to her heart.

Rudolf instilled in his children the virtues of respect, perseverance and generosity. His sons are blessed and proud to have had him as a father and will always strive to keep his legacy alive. His daughters-in-law, Tatjana, Sheryl and Emily will forever be thankful to him for raising such amazing men that they are proud to call their husbands.

Rudolf was a proud older brother who provided support and encouragement to his siblings: Jozan, the late Marko, Ivo, Drago, and Ankica, as well as their families, whom he loved unconditionally. He will lovingly remain in their thoughts and prayers.

Among his greatest achievements are his grandchildren, whom he cherished and adored; Evana, Kalista, Dylan, Natasha, Vanessa, Natalija and Luka. They will never forget their Dida Rudi and all of the love and affection he provided.

Family and friends from around the world will remember him as a charismatic, kind, generous, compassionate, larger-than-life man who would always put others first.
