Dad passed away after a short illness just 13 days shy of his 90th birthday. He was an exceptional man who lived an extraordinary life. We are comforted that he maintained his independence and positivity through out his well lived life and peaceful death. It also gives us solace that we were able to have a great visit with Dad on his last day and that he knew how much he was loved, admired and respected.
He and Mom emmigrated from Croatia (former Yugoslavia) in 1957 to escape Communism and to ensure a better life for his family. He achieved his goal and we are forever grateful for the sacrifices he made for us. Dad was a strong, determined and proud man.
He was intelligent, well read, well travelled and a life long learner. Hawaii was a destination of choice and for over 30 years it became a winter home with family and friends and he loved it. He was always known as he man with the tan! Dad was structured and disciplined and knew the value of these traits. In keeping with this he continued to walk daily and complete 2 hours of Sudoku puzzles (and he always completed them) each day right up to the end of his life.
We feel so lucky and privileged to have had his support, wisdom, humour and story telling for 90 years.
Dad was predeceased by parents Agata and Antun Novak, daughter Bozica. Brothers: Drago (Barica), Franjo (Marija), Andrija (Albina) brother in law Franjo , Sister Marija (Josip)
Survived by adorning wife of 67 years Marija. Children: Lynda Conceicao (Mario), Tony Novak (Grace). Grandchildren: Ryan, Nicole (Brian) Christina (John) and Rudy. Also survived by his loving sister Katica in Croatia along with many nieces, nephews and friends though out the world.
Our Dad/Dida will remain in our hearts forever!
