Silvio Zadkovic was born on June 19, 1938, in Vele Mune, Croatia, to Josef and Slava Zadkovic, and passed away on June 15, 2026.

Silvio was the beloved husband of Albina Zadkovic (née Giugovaz). Their love story began in Trieste, Italy, where they met before moving to Paris, France, where they were married in 1958. Together, they built a life filled with love, hard work, and devotion to family. Eventually, they settled in Northbrook, Illinois, where they raised their family and made countless cherished memories.

He was the loving father of Robert J. Zadkovic and Helen (Thomas) Mitroff, and the proud grandfather of Michael J. Mitroff, who brought him immense joy. Silvio was also a devoted brother to Mary, John, Branko, and Slavko, and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A skilled and dedicated union carpenter, Silvio helped build numerous homes throughout his career. His strong work ethic and determination led him to return to school later in life, where he earned his Bachelor's degree. He went on to serve as Director of Hospital Construction, overseeing building projects and contributing his expertise to the healthcare field.

Silvio was a man of remarkable perseverance, intelligence, and curiosity. He spoke several languages and embraced the opportunities that came with a life spanning different countries, cultures, and experiences. Whether through his work, his travels, or the relationships he built, he approached life with purpose and enthusiasm.

Above all, Silvio treasured his family. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandson, and was an active and caring presence. He also had a special affection for his dogs, whose companionship brought him great happiness over the years.

Silvio will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his dedication to his family, his kindness, and the legacy he leaves behind in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His memory will be cherished always.
