Slavica Musulin, 73, passed away surrounded by her two daughters and the love of her family.
Born in Brinje, Croatia, Slavica demonstrated love for the family & nature, keen intellect, and artistic ability from a young age. At just 16 years old, she immigrated to the United States, settling in New York City, where she embraced new opportunities while carrying her heritage proudly with her. She worked at her aunt and uncle's tailor shop, so she could attend college at night. She became a dental technician, a job she really loved to do. In 1970's Slavica met and married her beloved husband, Miro Musulin, and together they lived in Connecticut, where they raised their children.
As gifted and versatile artist, Slavica worked with Eva Bouzard - Hui at the Gallery, creating painted pottery pieces, decorative tiles, and drawings that reflected her refined eye, steady hand, and imaginative spirit. Her artistic talents were only one facet of her many abilities.
Later in life, guided by compassion and a desire to care for others, Slavica became a Certified Nursing Assistant at Lincoln Park Care Center, where she was known for her kindness, attentiveness, and dedication to residents. She also worked as a sales associate at Panera Bread in West Caldwell, a role in which her loving and vibrant personality truly shined. Many people came to Panera not just for a meal, but to see Slavica.
Slavica found joy in life’s simple and beautiful pleasures. She loved flowers and gardening, especially at her daughter, Titana's home, visits and long walks to parks and botanical gardens with her daughter, Slavimira, and time spent outdoors. She enjoyed traveling with her son, Miroxandar and his family. She delighted in music and dancing, and she never passed up the chance to raise a glass of wine or beer in celebration and good company.
In 1988, Slavica and her family returned to Croatia, where they spent many meaningful years before coming back to the United States in 2001. No matter where she lived, family remained the center of her world. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Slavica is survived by her beloved husband, Miro Musulin; her children, Slavimira Musulin, Titana Dropic and her husband Jasenko, and Miroxandar Musulin and his wife Katarina; dear step-daughter, Christina Musulin; and her cherished grandchildren, Ernest, Silvester, Valerius, and Marino. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and remembered her infinite overflowing love, sunshine and light that surrounded her, her intelligence, creativity, compassion and warmth for everyone, and lively, vibrant spirit that will remain among us forever.
