He was a giant of a man.
He was a man who came from nothing to build a good life for himself and his family.
He was a man who worked hard and did the best that he could.
He was a strong and powerful man who welcomed friends and family into his life.
He was a gentle man who would hold a baby in his arms and look down with such admiration, happiness and love.
He was a man who loved to sing and have a good time.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Tata and Dida, Slavko Jelečanin. Tata passed away in the early hours of October 18, 2021 in his dear Hrvatska.
Born on April 17, 1943, in Donji Vaganac, Lika, when Hrvatska was Hrvatska, Tata worked hard to come to Canada and build a life one could only dream of. What our Tata achieved in 78 years was beyond his wildest dreams.
He showed us unconditional love, he beamed with pride for his wife Lucija (Nikolić), his children Tomislav (Barbara), Mile (Tereza), Irena (Frank), and his grandchildren Nikolina, Maksim, Neven, Vesna, Franjo & Antonija.
He was the beloved brother of Manda (Pere), and Mile (Mira). He will be missed by all of those who knew him well, especially his friends and fellow parishioners at Holy Trinity Croatian Catholic Church, a church he loved so much that he helped build it with his own two hands.
We believe that he knew and felt our love but God called him home so that he may join the angels in song surrounded by the greatest peace and love one could ever imagine.
Dear Tata, God bless you, and may God and yourself look down upon us with love, and be that beacon of light to guide us when we feel the path is darkest.
