Stella Jean Jagich passed peacefully into eternal life on Monday evening, July 17th, 2023, surrounded by her loving nieces and nephews. Stella lived her life devoted to the Lord through her strong Catholic faith. She now joins her beloved parents, Ivo "John" and Stane "Stella" (Obad) Jagich and sisters, Lucille (Jagich) Bokariza and Kathryn "Kay" (Jagich) Butier, and extended family who went before her.

Stella is survived by nieces and nephews: Kristine Bokariza-Martin (Gerald) Martin, Louis (Kathy) Bokariza, Stephanie Bokariza-Ivanov, Stephen (Karyn) Bokariza, Paul (Lupe) Bokariza, Jennifer Bokariza-Jones (Nicholas) Jones, Karen (Algis "Al") Basiulis, and Peter (Jeannie) Butier. She is also survived by 14 grand nieces and nephews, 9 great grand nieces and nephews and numerous cousins in the U.S. and Croatia.

Born November 2, 1929, in Watsonville, California, Stella was proud of her rich Croatian heritage from both her parents who emigrated from Croatia. She spoke the Croatian language and kept in close contact with family in the "old country." She attended Moreland Notre Dame High School and went on to Hartnell College where she studied business.

Stella had a stellar work ethic, working well into her 80's. She retired from Alisal High School in Salinas and went on to work for many years at the Monterey Dunes.
Stella was a very active member of St. Patrick's Parish faithfully serving as a Lector for many years. She also mentored new members to the church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program (RCIA). She was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union (CFU) for over seventy years and served as the local Lodge Secretary and Treasurer.

She was always excited about attending the annual CFU national conventions. She was an active member of the Young Ladies Institute (YLI) and volunteered at St. Anthony's Homeless Shelter in San Francisco. She selflessly spent many Thanksgivings at the shelter serving dinner, delighted to help those in need.

Stella was very active and health-conscientious! It was not with a sedentary life she lived her 93 years! She walked daily, and when her health didn't allow her to continue going outside, she would walk her steps (which she counted) inside the house. She loved bowling and attended many state tournaments and even one at the national level. She traveled to many locations including Croatia, Austria, Germany, Canada, and Hawaii. Stella loved to cook, clean (she kept an immaculate house) and garden. And she loved popcorn. Not the microwavable kind, the real thing!

Stella always had advice for her nieces and nephews, and they will certainly miss her words of wisdom!

The family wishes to recognize and thank those who so lovingly assisted with Stella's care, Elia Gonzalez and Iris Vivola, and the staff at Pacific Coast Manor who provided end-of-life care.
