It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stephanie, Siggy to her brother and close friends, following a brief illness on Sunday, March 5, 2023 having lived a full life of 98 years with style and demeanor and the sound of her inner voice.
She was predeceased by her husband Roland (Rolly) in October 2004. She is lovingly remembered and cherished by her son Paul, her daughter Susan, her son Robert and her daughter-in-law Karen. Big sister to her brother Bill, sister-in-law to Andree, and Aunty to her nephews Michel & Philip. She will be deeply missed by her special friend and companion of many years, John Bayley, and many wonderful friends.
Of the original group of 19 first cousins, Stephanie will also be fondly remembered by the two remaining cousins, Mary Lucas and George Kovich.
Stephanie was born in Pozega, Croatia and immigrated to Canada when she was 2 years old, living in Montreal. As a young 19 year old, she worked for 2 years in the diplomatic corps in Washington DC before returning to Montreal where she began a new career at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) enabling her the opportunity to travel to many of the world's major cities. She started a family and later resumed her career working for the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) until her retirement.
Stephanie will be remembered for her grace, her perseverance, her sense of humour and unwavering devotion to her family.
Now we will have to learn how to live without her.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the palliative unit at University Hospital for their compassionate care.
