STJEPAN "STEVE" KUCMANIC age 79 of North Royalton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 9, 2022. Beloved husband of Virginia “Gini” (nee Case).

Loving father of Suzana Dachtler (Frank) and Mariana Branch (Jim). Cherished grandfather of Gabriella, Grace and Genevieve Dachtler, Lilijana and Nicholas Branch. Dear brother of the late Ljubica Stajduhar (Josip) and Ivan Kucmanic (Ivnca).

He was born in Karlovac, Croatia on November 21, 1943. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1966, living in Cleveland, Brook Park and Strongsville. He was a talented tool and die maker working at various companies and retiring from the GM-Parma Plant after 30 years.

He meticulously cared for his beautiful yard, full of perennials and vegetable plants, sharing all with neighbors and friends. Stjepan was a generous neighbor helping others in their yards, with odd jobs, repairs and offering sound advice.

He is fondly remembered for his musical talents, dry sense of humor, hospitality, smoked salmon (a recipe often shared), homemade chicken noodle soup, and fishing prowess. Preparing homemade meals for his family was a great expression of his love. He felt it was important to acknowledge friends and family with a smile and by saying hello making them feel special, no matter how brief the encounter.

His greatest passion was the gift of music that he shared with others. He was an accomplished musician writing original songs, mixing, and producing CD’s. Stjepan inspired his children and grandchildren to love music and encouraged them to play a variety of instruments. He was a proud supporter of his grandchildren participating in theatre, orchestra and tamburitza. He also brought joy to many by playing his accordion at home, Croatian events, and private parties. As a parent he volunteered countless hours to the Cleveland Jr. Tamburitzans. Stjepan was very active in the American Croatian Retiree Group and CFU Lodge 995. He wished to preserve his Croatian heritage in music for generations to come.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Zagreb Jr. Tamburitzans, 34900 Lakeshore Blvd, Ste. 210, Eastlake, OH 44095.
