On October 17, 2022 Tomo Brkich in his 93rd year, beloved husband of the late Danica (Briski) Brkich, much loved father of the late Vesna Anderson (John), Greg, (Mina), and the late Tom Brkich (Krista) grandfather to Jeffery Anderson and Jacob Brkich passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener surrounded by his loving son Greg and family members.
Tomo was born in Donje Bravsko Bosnia-Herzegonia in 1930. He was fourth in the succession of 7 children born to Ana (Ivezić) and Josip Brkić originally from Lika, Croatia.
Tomo left his homeland in his 20’s, immigrating to Canada in the early 1950’s.
Together for almost 50 years, Tomo and Danica created a life for themselves, and their three beautiful children.
Tomo offered 30 years of service to Budd Automotive in Kitchener. His passion however, was focused on his family, fishing, and delicious family barbecues all accompanied by a back drop of singing, laughter and family unity. His spirit was light and his laughter genuine and contagious that always brought people together.
He is survived by, many nieces and nephews in Canada, Croatia and Austria, his younger sister in Austria Kata Leopold (Brkić), his niece Matijana Mirkovic, his loving daughter-in-law Krista Brkich, his beloved grandsons Jeffery Anderson, and Jacob Brkich, and his incredibly devoted son Gregory, who has been his best friend and care giver for over 7 years.
