Born in Prijedor, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Veronika was educated as a tailor. She moved to Paris with her husband and young son, where she out-performed the (usually male) tailors, thanks to her formal education in the craft.
When she arrived in Chicago, Veronika worked on an assembly line before starting her own business manufacturing garments in her basement. Veronika had a team of 13 employees, all of whom spoke different languages. In her basement, her company created and produced garments for Alyce Designer Gowns and Robbie Sportswear. She also was a skilled pattern-maker and freelanced as a sample-maker for fashion companies in the Apparel Center.
Beloved wife of the late Milan Stakic, loving mother of Zelimir “Zel” Stakic, adored mother-in-law of Ngoc Stakic.
Dear sister of Alfonz (Danica) Josic, Ika (Raymond) Edison, and Ivan Josic of Chicago and Mira (Radoja) Topic of Prijedor, Bosnia. She will be deeply missed by Ratka (Slavko) Nedeljkovic and many other dear friends.
Preceded in death by parents Stipo and Manda (nee Brisevic) Josic and siblings Zeljko (the late Luba) Josic, Mato (Ankica) Josic, Andjelko (the late Patrisija) Josic and one infant sibling.
