It is with a sad heart that we are announcing the passing of Vjekoslava Boba Sopta. Surrounded by those who loved her, God called Boba peacefully on Saturday, August, 14, 2021 at the age of 86.
She will always be in the heart of her loving husband Predrag. Adored and loved by her only son Zoran and daughter-in-law Pina. Loving and super proud grandmother of Anthony (Jessica), Christopher (Samantha) and her youngest pride and joy Matthew.
Her life and memories will forever be treasured by her sister-in-law Marica, brother-in-law Anto (Ruzica), sister in-law Mira, sister in-law Marija (Mijo) and her nephews Renato (Lazarela), John (Janice), Frank, and Anto (Tatiana), and her niece Zana (Drazen).
While she was a talented mezzo soprano opera singer, Boba chose to study architecture and upon arrival in Canada (1967), she worked hard to maintain her professional status. She was the first woman to work in the engineering and turbines department for General Electric in Canada. She was awarded and recognized for her many contributions for advancement of women in her field.
Boba was also loved by her community, known for making conversation with everyone on her daily walks over the 45 years she lived in Pickering. A true martyr, she always looked out for those who needed solace or a place to stay.
