Vladimir (Wally) Delija, 77, of Oakville, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 7th, 2021 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Wally was born to parents Alojzija and Juraj Delija on April 15, 1943 in Djakovo, Slavonia, Croatia. His family moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada in the late 1950’s; he was later hired by Ford Motor Company at the age of 22, where he worked tirelessly for the next 39 years.
He met and married the love of his life, Michelina (Lena) Delija, nee: De Vita in 1967. Wally was a loving husband and father, a devoted and present grandfather (“Dee”), a helpful brother, an outstanding son, and a wonderful uncle. He is survived by wife, Lena, son Paul, daughters, Christine, Laura, and Marianne, grandchildren, Meghan, Amanda, Oliver and Miles, sister Ann, and brother Mladen, and nephew Ed. He is predeceased by brother Rudi and parents Alojzija and Juraj.
Wally was known for his love of all things canine and all sports, especially baseball and hockey. Known for his hard work ethic, he could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. His warm, endearing smile brought joy and happiness to so many.
Donations can be made to Oakville Milton humane Society or a charity of your choice in Walter’s name.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:30 p.m. on Sunday January 10th 2021 at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 restrictions an appointment must be made.
