Surrounded by his family Walter Paul Mikulan, age 91, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. Walter was born in Pittsburgh, PA. on July 25, 1932, to the late Joseph and Mary (Bosiljevac) Mikulan.

He was married to the love of his life the late Joann (Brown) Mikulan and together they raised 9 children; Walter (Mary) Mikulan Jr., David Mikulan, Mary Louise (Michael) Chraska, late Beverly Hughes, Joseph Mikulan, Linda (Michael) Ziedler, Charlene (Philip) Balsimo, Charles Mikulan, and Kathryn (Richard) Krebs.

He was lovingly called "Polka Pappy" by his grandchildren; Erika (Waylon) Grove, Megan (John) Brown, Leah (Ethan) Jackson, Michael (Alex) Ziedler, Samantha Chraska, Timothy Hughes, Stephanie (Tom) Harman, Katie Chraska, Jimmy Balsimo and great grandchildren Jeffrey Fink Abby Grove, Wren Grove, Warren Grove, Keegan Brown, Declan Brown, Nolan Brown, Benny Harman, Cora Jackson and great great grandchildren Madison and Cameron.

Walter Proudly joined the United States Army National Guard 28th Division where he served with honor and distinction. His time during the Korean Conflict was a testament of his courage, discipline and love for his country.

Of all of Walter's achievements he was most "noted" for was his musical talents, he was an accomplished upright bass musician in a polka band for many years. Walt was a life member of the Carpenters Union Local 432 in Robinson Twp. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most importantly he enjoyed his family.
