Born on April 1, 1928 of Immigrants from Blato, Korcula in Croatia, Bill was a proud native San Franciscan, Croatian American & Veteran.
In 1948 he graduated from Mission High & enlisted in the Navy. In '50, Bill joined SFPD's finest spending 27 yrs. as a Mountie patrolling Golden Gate & McLaren Parks.
He was known as 'the friendly cop on horse-back' generating goodwill 4 the SFPD- Letting the public pet & sit on his horse while counseling kids to keep on the right side of the law. In '51, Bill received the highest Award: Gold Medal of Valor for rescuing several occupants from a burning building. He was promoted to Sgt. in '79.
After 31 yrs. he retired as acting Lieutenant. In '52, Bill married the love of his life, Rosemary Cetinich. Together they raised 5 children. They loved dancing, singing, music & spending time as a family & with friends. As community leaders they ran S.F. neighborhood youth programs & coached at Corpus Christi parish.
They planned parties & fundraisers for social clubs: Slavonic Mutual Benevolent Society, The Native Sons of the Golden West & Young Men's Inst. Bill was also an active member of the Internat'l Police & the SFPOA. He excelled in gardening, cooking & wine making. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind spirit, sense of humor & his great story telling that made people laugh. He prayed & read the paper daily up to his last day.
On 3/23/21 Bill was reunited with his loving wife of 56 years, & his parents, Nikola & Jerica Farac. He is loved dearly by his children: Stephen (Sue), Robert (Elisa), Karen (Dennis), Bill(Lydia) & Lynda(Greg) grandchildren: Jennifer, Rachel, Rob, Kristen, Rebecca, Stephanie, Nick, Michael, Clayton, Kyle, Mia, Connor, Kayla & Alex great grandkids: Harper, Ethan, Hazel & Barrett, siblings: Elsie Euing, Helen O'Brien & Nick Farac. His motto was BE KIND, HAVE FAITH & NEVER GIVE UP! Dad thx 4 making this world a better place! Happy Father's Day Dad! We miss & love you!
