It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Zvonimir Stipicevich, a longtime Rancho Palos Verdes resident and retired longshoreman, who passed away peacefully at the age of 90 in his own home, surrounded by his loving family.

Originally from the island of Olib, off of the coast of Croatia, Zvonimir migrated to the United States in 1950, at the age of 20. He brought his childhood sweetheart, Tereza Lovrovic, to the United States six years later. The two married in 1957 and settled in San Pedro. He worked odd jobs until 1959, when he became a proud member of ILWU Local 13.

They started a family and had two children, Boris and Jane, and purchased their first home in 1962. Zvonimir worked his way up becoming a Local 94 Foreman (work #31339) in 1977. He retired in 1995, with 36 years in the longshore union. Zvonimir was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He will be remembered fondly for his love of family and friends, his homeland, the United States, the ocean and the ILWU. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Tereza; his son Boris and wife Keri; daughter Jane (Brown) and husband Larry; grandchildren Krysalynn and husband Kevin Emerson, Breanna and husband Theo Nikolakopulos; Samantha Brown; great-grandchildren, Luke and Ashlynn Emerson and Stella Nikolakopulos; and extended family and friends.

He will be laid to rest in a private service at Green Hills Memorial Park on February 12. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Dalmatian American Club of San Pedro.
